Alexandria Le (DMA, piano) wins Pro Musicis Award

Maestro Gunther Schuller, chair, and members of the Pro Musicis jury recently selected three concert artists for the 2011 Pro Musicis International Award following auditions at Yamaha Artist Piano Salon, New York City. Spanish guitarist Rafael Aguirre and American pianists Alexndria Le and Andrew Staupe will join the roster of Pro Musicis artists who hail from 22 countries and have thriving careers in North and South America, Europe and Asia.

The mission of Pro Musicis is to nurture and share the artistic inspiration of the world’s finest concert artists. They credit their community service performances as an important factor in their success. In giving back and sharing, they experience the essence of music making. Father Merlet’s vision of combining career development with community service enables them to create magical connections with their audiences and be committed to a lifetime of sharing the beauty of music.

American pianist Alexandria Le, recognized as a powerful and captivating performer, enjoys a multi-faceted career as soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue. She has performed across the US, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy and Greece. A native of Las Vegas, she garnered over fourteen first-prize awards before graduation from high school. Dedicated to teaching and outreach programs, Ms. Le gives master classes and performance clinics across the country. In Nevada and New York, she has worked closely with non-profit music outreach groups dedicated to fostering musical awareness in inner-city schools and special-needs programs. Ms. Le is currently at S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook where she earned a Master’s degree and is completing her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree.
